Exsiccatae is a free personal project. For questions, bug reports, or feedback, email craigm26@gmail.com and I'll get back to you.
Identification runs on-device; make sure the bird fills a good part of the frame and is in focus. If you're unsure, use "Find a bird by name" to record it manually — the app is fully usable that way.
Species appear once you record a sighting. Each species is faint at first and fills with colour the more often you see it.
Yes. Identification and your whole journal are on-device. Only name look-ups use the network, and results are cached.
Finish an outing, open it, and tap “Prepare eBird export.” Share the file to yourself, then upload it at ebird.org/import/upload. You review it first — Exsiccatae never submits for you.
Start a Traveling outing with “Measure distance with GPS” on and Exsiccatae tracks the distance you cover (the blue status bar shows while it does). You can edit the number before finishing.
